Let it Snow...more

We have all sorts of winter around here lately.

Temperatures at -22 F.
Snow. And then more snow.
Rain. With lots of puddles that have ice under them.
More snow.
More rain.
Wet. Everything is wet.

I finally couldn't stand not being able to go for a walk, so I went anyway. By the time I came home, it looked like I had just taken a shower. Brrr.

Since it looks like it is here to stay for awhile, I figured I might as well celebrate it. Right?

Hearts and Sugar

We are sneaking up on that special day in February.

Not really one of my favorites. But I do have a few things I like about it.

When I was in college I used to deliver flowers for the local florist. I LOVED that. There is nothing better than the smell of roses and the smile on someones face when you show up at their door with a handful of them.

I also liked the way my dad gave us Valentines. It was usually some small trinket and he would take them to the ladies in the local bakery early. They would make each of us girls a small personal cake and our trinket would be hiding inside.

No cakes or roses here this week. But I do have a free digi for you :)

Singer Sewing Machine Free Graphic...

As I typed the title, I realized it could suggest a sewing machine or a musical artist.

I think we will stick with the sewing machine for now :)

I don't know about you, but I like to be a "singer" but only when I drive :) Kyla and I took a trip to Northern Idaho last weekend. The car was filled with music the whole way there and back. Sometimes, you just need to surround yourself with music and sing! Other times you need to surround yourself with bright fun fabrics and let the machine sing!

Fall Clothes...

School shopping for us is just around the corner.

I'm having a hard time wrapping my brain around warmer clothes.

We are still in the "hottest" part of our summer. Less is better right now. Swim wear and the river is best. I'm not looking forward to trying on and buying pants. Or jackets. Or long sleeve shirts. I know we will need them, and I will love them when it's time. Just don't make me think about it yet ;)

Today's goodie is all ready to go. She has her warm jacket and fall boots. Good to go!

Fall is Creeping Up...

It's been forever since I posted a freebie, but I managed to pull one together this morning!

I'm trying to ignore it, but thoughts of fall have been sneaking up on me. Crisp mornings, changing colors, the smell of apples, and sweatshirts.

I start to miss my cuddly clothes. :)

I don't think I could ever live somewhere that didn't have all four seasons. I love each one and always look forward to the changes and adventures that each one brings.

I Was Playing...

Morning All,

Sorry this is being posted later than usual. I was out playing. A lot!!

It's been 5 days since I even opened my laptop. I had a girl date in town. Spent two nights with my sis. Came home to repack and head to our hometown. A day of calm and relaxation with my dad and mother in law. Then two days of riding our motor bikes.

Pure bliss :)

Bird Watching

The birds have been chirping around here like crazy.

As soon as the sun starts to peek over the hills, the birds start chattering.

It's probably my favorite noise to wake up to. Unless it's a magpie. Yuck!

My studio has a lilac right outside one of the windows. I've found myself just staring at the birds. Watching them flitter around inside the branches. The way they bob their little heads. Their tiny claws gripping for balance. Fascinating.

I never thought I would become a bird watcher (and I'm not even close to being an official one)...but I do find myself paying a little more attention to them than I used to :)

Spring Beasties...

The beasts are always cute when they are little.

Not always so much when they are bigger.

It's that time of the year, where deer are jumping fences are racing to see if they can make it across the highway before you reach the same point. Yikes!!

This little sweetie won't be racing any cars. We'll just keep it little, and cute. On a card. Or a scrapbook layout :)

Summertime Lemonade

Happy Tuesday!

I took yesterday off (my last personal day of the year). Now I am trying to put my brain back into school mode.

It's hard.

All I can think about are summer mornings with a cup of coffee. Hot afternoons at the river or lake. Adventures. Places we can go and play. And art. Time for drawing and being creative.

One of my kids' favorite things to do is a lemonade stand at my dad's. He lives on a prime corner (really close to main street). They set up in the shade of a lilac tree and hawk their wares all afternoon.

Looking forward to hot summer days and refreshing beverages.

Don't Shush Your Voice

I have made a few more changes to the shop. All of my prints are now digital. They will be an instant download when you purchase them. Why?

• You can print them for journals, scrapbook pages, or any other creative project.
• Print them as many times as you wish.
• Send them to your local printer (Walgreen's, Costco, etc.) for any size you want (and it's cheaper too!).
• Print them on art paper and add doodles or journaling.
• Use them for your computer or iPhone wall paper. 
• Anything else you can dream up to use them for!

There will be more new quotes added as well as new art soon. Summer is just around the corner!

We Like to Ride Our Bikes!

Good Morning!

There have been a few changes to the shop.
All digital items are now instantly available through Etsy.
No more waiting for me to ship it.

That will change the way I offer free stamps. There isn't a reason to use the digital download service any more...so free stamps should be easier to get now. However, past free downloads will have broken/expired links. I'll try to get them fixed by summer (or as soon as I can this summer).

So, today we try a new way of downloading them. I'm not going to zip the freebies any more, you can either right click and save the file, or you can click the link provided and download it from the site where it is hosted.

Sewing Machines...

I have a love/hate relationship with my sewing machine.

Love:
I can stitch paper like no ones business.
Shabby Chic journals that I make using a sewing machine make me smile.
Straight lines and a few little stitches are easy enough.

Hate:
Untangling the string.
Starting a project and then the bobbin runs out. Never fails.
Thinking I am doing wonderful, and the string isn't even through the needle.
That ball of junk that wads up under my project.
Anything that isn't a straight line ;)

There must be something inherent about a sewing machine though...because even before I knew how to use one, I was drawn to them. I really loved the old pedal one that was in a spare bedroom in my grandmother's house.

Sometimes I walk by mine, and feel it pulling to me. Saying "please come and stitch something".

These new images in my shop are for any of you who feel the same way (or love your sewing machine even more than I could possibly imagine) :)

It's Time To Read...

It's that time of the week again.

This week I thought I might share some of the older "Little People" that I drew. I think I made this one last spring. I dedicated it to my sis. She reads as much as I do...and we are always sharing titles and spending hours in the bookstore together.

Our perfect day: lunch and a B&N date. Hours to spend sitting in the aisles browsing the stacks we pulled off the shelf. coffee. easy enough :)

A Little Character...

Phew! It's finally Friday :)

It ended up being a relatively calm day, which was a nice break.

My first hour kids wanted to color, so I took out the Copic collection. They saw the blank paper and couldn't decide what they wanted to draw.

One of them told me "I just want to color, not draw". I offered to do the drawing, and we were off. We started with picture number one, and then I spent the rest of the morning listening to "draw me next", or "now can you draw insert name".

They are high school kids, but you would have thought I was surrounded by Kinders :)

A few times we were just rolling on the floor laughing. A piece here and there was just so close to right...funny how a person can be simplified into a cartoon, and still be recognized.
