This week we have been so busy finishing up symbolic self portraits.
After that, I taught them to make their own altered album. Some wonderful person in the community donated matting scraps. I cut them down to 5x7 and we are adding pages and spiral binding. They are furiously digging through scrapbook papers, magazine pages, and the paint. Some very amazing pieces of art are forming :)
We have also been avidly watching our Donors Choose site. I posted a project for new art tables. Ours shake when we erase and were not meant for art. We have had 4 donation and only need a handful more to make our goal. It's been very exciting :)
And, now it is Friday and we all get a break for a couple of days!! Someone needs to tell Mother Nature that tomorrow is May. She didn't get the memo here in Montana!!
Have a great weekend :)

Tech Literacy...
I've been playing (again). I know, I know. Every time I post, it's usually to comment on my "play". Must be that when I have time to play, I have time to post :)
It was a little different this time. There were the usual piles of papers, paint, ribbons, etc. Then the photos of the finished product. And then the thought to try something different. We bought this Apple over 2 years ago. Chris has played with the iMovie. I've ignored it. Today, I experimented and upped my technology literacy. (I even had to ask him for help...*gasp*...that NEVER happens when it comes to technology!)
Now, I have uploaded my photo slideshow on two different sites. Vimeo looks like it will be more user friendly. Flickr only takes 90 seconds of the movie. Mine was a little over that at 2 min. 30 sec.
So, if you traveled here via Flickr, you can now view the whole thing. My next devious plan is to add the video to my eBay auction for a unique way of viewing the product before bidding.
My Easter Journal on eBay.
Among these pages you can journal, doodle, write out quotes or verses, paper trimmings, memorobilia, photos, and more.
Wish me luck. I'm having technical adventures :)
Oh! The Places You Will Go!
I am back!!
And I have even managed to make something creative :)
It is a sweet little spiral bound book. It quotes the wonderful words of Dr. Seuss.
If you would like to see the inside, you can find it here :)
Happy Spring!

New Toy...
I walked into a scrapbook store this weekend, and for the first time in over a year, I SPENT money!! Not sure what the deal has been for me lately, but I haven't been very inspired by all those pretty papers. They looked good. They just didn't speak to me.
This weekend, they were yelling!!
I also purchased my birthday present (early). That was even more exciting. I couldn't play with it right away. Had to wait for Sunday, but when I was finally able to get my hands on it, I created a cute little book for my niece. I'll post pictures later.
So the toy...
It is a Zutter Bind it All. It punches holes and then you thread them onto metal spiral binding and squish them down. You can do any length of paper imaginable AND some really thick chipboard. I even punched through a few of Kyla's iTunes gift cards. SWEET!!
Can't wait to go home and play with it some more. I have many many ideas zipping though my head :)
Happy March,

Valentine's Day Sale...
I have just marked down a number of items in my shop!! Figured it was a great way to "share the love" this month :)
There hasn't been as much time as I would like to add or create new items. Hopefully, I can get around to making all those ideas in my head manifest into creations. One can always dream...right? :)
Happy Monday,

Word of the Year...
I finished working on my "worksheet".
(I would share the link...but I found it in a round about way and can't remember how...)
It helps you determine what it is about your word that will work for you in the coming year. Why it's important. What aspects of self change you are going to use it for. I think that helped with my nagging feeling.
I plan to write it all in my 2nd Remains of the Day journal to cement it for myself. I shared it with my sister (who helped me set my goals) and then I gave it to my husband to read. My intention is now set!
Later, I will share bits and pieces of it for those of you were are still looking for inspiration, or are just plain curious :)
Happy Wednesday!!

Wanting, Searching...
Needing.
I'm not sure what it is. Something is nagging me. I feel it in my stomach. It affects my mood. What is it?
I don't have a clue. I just know that I feel it. Something should be clicking, falling into place. But it's not.
Sometimes I feel like I have Internet induced A.D.D. But I know that the Internet is just my excuse. I come back to the computer each time I don't want to face what I am trying to do. Each time I think something will be challenging. The computer is my scapegoat.
What is it I am avoiding?
What is missing?
Wondering and Yearning,
Rhoda

In Search of Snow...
We had to drive over 30 miles to find snow yesterday. That is not normal.

But, we found the snow. And after a few squabbles and some growling, we had SNOW much fun :)
It is amazing how peaceful the world is when it is white and cold. Our adventures took us along the Montana/Idaho pass (a small portion of the Continental Divide). Hayden flopped around like a fish and did belly flops. Kyla ate her weight in snow. Maggie was worn out because she isn't lucky enough to have snowshoes. It's tough being a dog. Chris made snow art with a ski pole. I found mother natures sculptures and photographed them. When I downloaded the loot this morning, the grand total was 137 photos. Goodness!!
I leave you with a few of the most precious and the promise to share more ♥
Always,
Rhoda
Longer Days...
I love living where we have distinct seasons. In the fall, I love the feel of the cool night air. Smell of decaying leaves and the crisp crunch of them underfoot. I enjoy the shortening days and the thought of long winter days spent warm and cozy in the house.
By February, I start watching for the signs of spring. Daylight hours get longer. You can almost feel a touch of the dampness of spring in the air. The slant of sunlight starts to change. Birds start singing outside the windows. I want to clean the house from top to bottom and open windows (CRAZY...I Know!).
Today, I was downtown on a grocery run. It was after 5:20 and it was still light!! Spring is on it's way. Just hoping the fever doesn't set in to soon :)
And what did I do with all that light?
I took pictures of my second Remains of the Day journal.
I have almost filled my first one. I added a few more images. Need to add detail here and there and tweak a few things. There are about 5 more pages and I have run out of all the writing and ideas that I have that fit the theme, so I am going to add random quotes through out the entire journal and call it good. Then it will be one WHOLE book finished just for me and I am moving on to #2 :)
Looking forward to a relaxing and creative weekend.

Make My Soul Smile...
It's always the little things that up to make you the most happy. My favorite things:
The smell of coffee brewing and toast on a warm summer morning.
My kids all fresh and warm from the shower.
The smell of hot pine needles in the summer.
A snowy day, a cup of coffee, and a good book.
The fact that my hubby and I have to be touching in some way to fall asleep (usually backs pressed together after we have cuddled).
Things that make me laugh out loud. Not a chuckle. Not a snicker. Good old laugh out loud.
Colors. Vibrant, contrasting, blending, earth tones, monochromatic. It doesn't matter...just show me color.
Finding an image or idea that makes me so excited that I feel bubbly in my chest.
My niece on the phone saying my name and that she loves me.
An afternoon at the bookstore with my sister.
The smell of blended essential oils lingering on my clothing.
Lunch with my mother-in-law.
A long lazy Sunday afternoon.
An invigorating workout that reminds me what my body is capable of.
Lists...that help me put life in perspective and that remind me that it's the little things in life that bring us the most joy.
Simply,
Rhoda
P.S. I was inspired to create this post after finding it on "Be Yourself, Everyone Else is Taken". She was inspired by "Soul Aperture". If you would like to read other simple inspirations, they are there for your enjoyment.
